Last week Adrien Broner said he was contacted by Manny Pacquiao’s personal advisor Michael Koncz to set up a bout between the two for Pacquiao’s last fight before he retires.  Well Pacquiao’s promoter and Top Rank CEO Bob Arum stepped in and shut all that down.  Broner took to social media and went off on Arum and explained the grudge Arum is holding against him.

Arum said he was surprised to find out Koncz contacted Broner about fighting Pacquiao.  He then explained why it wouldn’t work.

“Yeah, I was very surprised,” said Arum on Monday morning to BoxingScene.com. “But y’know, Mike is trying to figure out the best thing for Manny and he’s not as conversant in the pay-per-view like we are. We talk to all the distributors, to HBO and we figure out who is the best draw. We don’t do this by the seat of our pants. But his idea was,’Well, the kid has a big mouth,’ but that doesn’t sell pay-per-views. “We had a real nice meeting with Michael and he understands. So we’re going with the original group and we’ll see where it goes from there.”

Broner however believes Arum shut the fight down because he’s still bitter about Adrien not signing with him.

Broner will likely end up fighting Ashley Theophane while Pacquiao’s team is discussing Terence Crawford, Tim Bradley and Amir Khan as possible opponents.  Bradley v. Pacquiao part freaking 3 is apparently gaining the most traction.
