In a brand new radio ad legendary director Spike Lee announced his support for Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. The ad took to airwaves on Tuesday (February 22), just days before Sanders faces off with Hilary Clinton at the South Carolina Democratic primary.
“Wake up, South Carolina!” Lee says, “This is your dude, Spike Lee. And you know that I know that you know that the system is rigged! For too long, we’ve given our votes to corporate puppets. Sold the okie-doke. 99 percent of Americans were hurt by the Great Recession of 2008, and many are still recovering.” He then goes on to touch on Sanders history supporting civil rights issues, which were recently brought to light through a photo of the Vermont Senator being arrested while protesting in 1963.
Lee wraps up the ad saying, “That’s why I am officially endorsing my brother, Bernie Sanders,” concluding, “When Bernie gets into the White House, he will do the right thing!
