Pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturer Johnson & Johnson has been ordered to pay the family of Jacqueline Fox a total of $72 million – in lieu of damages after she developed ovarian cancer, and then passed away in October 2015. The company apparently has dozens of health cases pending against them since the 1980’s, but has failed to solve any of their customer’s issues to stay in business. Hit the jump.

Jacqueline Fox was a frequent user of the alc-based Baby Powder and Shower to Shower. Fox was diagnosed with ovarian cancer three years ago and claimed to have used the company’s products for over 35 years.

Carol Goodrich, a Johnson & Johnson spokeswoman, spoke on the case:

“We have no higher responsibility than the health and safety of consumers, and we are disappointed with the outcome of the trial. We sympathize with the plaintiff’s family but firmly believe the safety of cosmetic talc is supported by decades of scientific evidence.”

Missouri state jurors found the company liable for fraud, negligence and conspiracy. They were ordered to pay the family $10 million in actual damages and $62 million in punitive damages.
