There has been so much controversy going on involving the Nina Simone biopic. A lot of people are still not happy with Zoe Saldana playing the role of the singer. We now get a chance to hear from her brother and daughter.
People are claiming that Zoe Saldana’s role as Nina Simone is a slap in the face to her legacy. Sam Waymon, Nina’s brother is one of the ones who does not approve of the biopic selection. He says that Nina would not be happy of them “painting up” Saldana and that she is insulting and “raping Nina’s legacy.”
Lisa Simone Kelly, Nina’s daughter shares what she thinks about the Tweet that was sent to Saldana through Simone’s Twitter. She says she does not agree with the movie but she cant place blame on Saldana.
“It’s unfortunate that Zoe Saldana is being attacked so viciously when she is someone who is part of a larger picture. It’s clear she brought her best to this project, but unfortunately she’s being attacked when she’s not responsible for any of the writing or the lies.”
Zoe Saldana is not to blame for the biopic and whatever information Nina’s family is considering to be wrong. Im sure she’ll do an amazing job in the film.
