Officer William Porter has reportedly been asked to testify against the five other officers who were involved in Freddie Gray’s murder. Back in December, Porter was charged with manslaughter, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and misconduct before his trial ended with a hung jury.

The trials against the other officers were put on hold until officials could decide whether or not Porter would testify against them. Prosecutors felt as though Porter’s testimony was actually critical in Caesar Goodson Jr’s case since he was the one driving the van. Initially, Porter’s retrial was set for January but with the other officers still under investigation, his trial will begin in June. While he waits, Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera has signed off on him testifying against the other officers. Porter’s lawyers have filed an appeal for the decision saying it violates Porter’s constitutional rights.
