Many of us wish Roy Jones would quit before he gets a knock out he can’t come back from but in this fight it was him who got his opponent to hit the mat.
Ok so it wasn’t a major fighter (which is what Jones needs to stay away from). A fan and part-time MMA fighter Vyron Phillips won a contest to fight Jones; he would receive $100K if he won. Unfortunately for him, he instead got knocked the hell out. Jones floored Phillips with a right hand counter at 2:30 of the second round.
According to BSO, he later compared himself to Michael Jordan:
“I wouldn’t challenge Michael Jordan in 1-1 for $100K. That guy has an amazing heart to just try the feat. He went out and challenged the best. That’s a lot of heart.”
