A little more than a week after Spike Lee opened up for Bernie Sanders in front of a crowd of about 18,000 people in the Bronx, he takes his directorial talents to Sanders’ newest ad. Spike and Bernie are practically day ones. Both Brooklynites (Brooklyn stand up) have been, hand in hand, trying to sway voters, especially minority voters, away from Hilary Clinton.

Back in the South Carolina Primary Spike Lee spoke to crowd of hopefuls, urging people to “do the right thing” in voting or Sanders. Since then, he’s promoted heavy on IG and Facebook and has done interviews hoping to gain new supporters. Cutting close to New York’s primary, they released a joint interview talking about politics and New York. Spike fears Hilary, being a Senator in NY for 8 years, might walk away with the W. Most of that fear lives because of the “older generation” that he says supports Hilary.

“We have to talk to our parents. Cause the old generation, they’re on this Clinton thing. And we have to talk to our older parents and…get their mind right.”

The 30 second ad, starts off with musician/activist Harry Belafonte talking about people of color and their interest in Bernie Sanders. Other activists like Shaun King and Linda Sarsour also showcase their fair share of words. Daughter of Eric Garner (Erica Garner) also appears saying people like Mike Brown and Sandra Bland are acknowledged by Sanders. Meanwhile, in background, a diverse group of people are standing in unison wearing Bernie attire, all in the “Da Republic of Brooklyn”.
