IFWT_Will_Smith_Memorial
A huge number of family, friends, former teammates and fans showed up today at the Saints indoor practice facility to pay their respects at the memorial of Will Smith. His casket, adorned with a bouquet of flowers, was placed on a stage at the 50-yard line, while numerous enlarged photos of him from his playing days, as well as a make shift locker were on display for everyone to see. Smith’s wife Racquel, who was injured in the shooting, was able to attend in a wheelchair.

Guard Jahri Evans sported a Will Smith No. 91 jersey, and players hugged and shared old memories with one another, as well as with Smith’s longtime coaches Sean Payton, Joe Vitt and Bill Johnson and general manager Mickey Loomis.

Many other former teammates were on hand as well and there will be a more private viewing over the weekend that many others will attend.

Cardell Hayes, the man who shot and killed Smith, remains in jail on $1 million dollars bond. His attorney is still trying to turn it into a self defense issue but nobody seems to be buying it thus far. Today though is all about Smith and that’s how it should be.
