The City of Cleveland has finally reached a settlement in the Tamir Rice case. Rice’s family will be receiving $6 million from the city. They will get $3 million in 2016 and the other $3 million next year.

Attorney Subodh Chandra says,

“The resolution is nothing to celebrate because a 12-year-old child needlessly lost his life,”

Although this will never replace the life of their loved one, the money will definitely be a huge help to the family. Rice was killed in November or 2014 by officer Timothy Lehmann. Lehmann claims that Rice had a gun and shot him just 2 seconds upon arrival.

Our prayers continue to be with Tamir Rice’s family.
