VH1’s Hip-Hop Honors returned from its 6-year hiatus on Monday night, paying tribute to some of the greatest women in hip-hop’s history. Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, Missy Elliott and Salt-N-Pep were the honorees of the night, while so many other influential women in music were in attendance to pay homage.

Two noticeably absent figures were Foxy Brown and Lauryn Hill, however. Immediately following the show, fans flooded social media with questions about their absence, and now Foxy has responded in a lengthy Instagram post. She says she doesn’t care but…I think she cares. I mean, why wouldn’t she? She’s a HUGE part of hip-hop’s history, and I wish she could have put whatever she has going with Kim to the side to be there that night. Nicki should have been there as well, and I wouldn’t have even minded seeing Azealia Banks’ crazy ass. I could try to make an argument for Iggy as well, but I’m sure I’m in the minority there, LOL.
Check out Fox Boogie’s post in the gallery.
Heather B, Bahamadia, Isis (X-clan), Sister Souljah, and Butterfly (Digable Planets) were also noticeably left out…
Also Ms Melody from BDP, Yo-Yo, JJ Fad, Oaktown 357, Suga T, Mia X, Charlie Baltimore, Kia, Rasheeda, BWP
Miss melody passed away
Mia X was there. Queen Latifah had portraits of women in hip-hop hanging on the background, Chuck Baltimore was featured…
Foxy didn’t have the mainstream appeal that Kim has. Kim has done MAJOR ad endorsements, been in movies, and done several high profile events. She maintained her feminine charm which made her more likeable and appealing to people. Foxy was seen as a hood chick with a hood attitude to match. Not saying she wasn’t a great artist, bc she was, but seriously, Kim has her beat by miles when it came to appeal and star power. As for Lauryn Hill, not sure if she can be called a hip hop artist in terms of rap. She’s a singer. Nicki Minaj doesn’t have the longevity yet. And some of the other artists mentioned didn’t have the length or strength of careers as these ladies did
Foxy and Kim was the top two in the 90s and I’m a fox fan she made her mark and she is still doing shows as well so they needed her there is didn’t want to really watch it but I did salt and pepper was honored a few years ago with big daddy Kane I remember they sung wattage man with the original members of envoge
Foxy quit it there were many that wasn’t there if you watched? Queen tried to recognize a lot of female rappers I do believe yourself and Ms lauryn hill was on it mc lyte wasn’t honored either but she still showed her support girl bye maybe grow up first and check that I’ll no no attitude at the VH1 door! “
