Everyone has regrets, but what of the regrets of multi-millionaires who seem to have everything? Recent retiree, Kobe Bryant opens up about his in an open letter to his 17-year-old self.

You would think that it was his huge infidelity issue that almost resulted in jail time, or maybe his relationship with Shaq that took a deep dive just after the rape allegations. Nope. Kobe’s regrets are much closer to home and yes, have to do with money.

Purely giving material things to your siblings and friends may appear to be the right decision. You love them, and they were always there for you growing up, so it’s only right that they should share in your success and all that comes with it. So you buy them a car, a big house, pay all of their bills. You want them to live a beautiful, comfortable life, right?

But the day will come when you realize that as much as you believed you were doing the right thing, you were actually holding them back.

There’s more. Kobe hasn’t spoken with his parents since 2013 for reasons to do with money…that cannot be easy; especially with his girls growing up so quickly. It is what it is I guess. No one is perfect.

Live and learn yall. Learn from the mistakes of others. You don’t have to make the same ones.
