New England Patriots rookie receiver Malcolm Mitchell’s career did not get off to the best start last night. Mitchell was having a solid game when he caught his fourth ball of the night against the Saints but as he went down from a tackle, his left elbow did something it’s not supposed to do.

Miraculously, Mitchell’s season is not over despite the gruesome injury. He was diagnosed with a dislocated elbow in the locker room and is only expected to miss the first four weeks of the season.

Mitchell was a standout receiver at the University of Georgia and he showed before the injury last night that he could play. Luckily for him since he won’t miss as much time as you would expect, his roster spot should be there waiting for him when he gets back. If he was lost for the season the team likely would’ve cut him to make room for someone else who could’ve helped this season.
