Crenshanda Williams was identified as the operator and has been charged and is under police investigation. It all started when her supervisors noticed that she had a large amount of calls lasting less than 20 seconds. After an even further investigation, authorities found that thousands of calls have been like that under he record from October 2015 to March 2016.

Two incidents in particular stood out however. Williams hung up on callers that were victims involved in a high speed bank robbery that went wrong. The man identified as Huang Li called 911 in March of 2015 to report the robbery at a Houston store. Li reported that six shots were fired in the store and despite that, she still hung the phone up on him. When he called back, she allegedly sighed before she kept the call short again. The store owner died as a result.

The second incident was a high speed chase between two trucks on the highway. Williams hung up on the caller mid-sentence. The moderator was also heard on official recording. When interviewed by Houston police she said the reasons she would hang up was because she “didn’t want to talk anymore” or she “didn’t have time”.

She’s reportedly been charged with a misdemeanor of interfering with emergency calls and is scheduled to appear in court next week.
