The 2016-17 NBA season kicks off tonight and many people are putting their predictions out there.  We already posted the predictions from the NBA GMs.  Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was asked about this year’s MVP.  Kerr did not select his player and reigning back-to-back MVP Stephen Curry, he did not pick Russell Westbrook, who many fans predicted will win, and he didn’t pick LeBron James whos’s basically a candidate every year and was chosen by the GMs.  Kerr had a sleeper pick.

Steve Kerr:

“I think KD is kinda like Gary Johnson, a third party guy who is going to come in and take a few votes from Steph, takes some from LeBron and then Damian Lillard wins the election. That’s my forecast.”

Lillard played with pure heart last offseason, willing the Portland Trail Blazers to the Western Conference semifinals despite having his whole starting cast changed.  He also gave the Warriors 40 and 10 in Game 3 of those semis.

Lillard often has a chip on his shoulder as he feels he’s often slept on; not chosen for All-Star, All-NBA, Team USA etc.

It’s no surprise that Lillard says he’s gunning for the MVP award this year.
