Pusha T stops by the Colbert show and talks about a few things including, the “Grindin” beat and how it almost went to Jay-Z, writing the McDonald’s “I’m Lovin It” jingle with Justin Timberlake and also voting rights and mass incarceration.
On Jay-Z almost getting the Grindin beat:
“Pharrell told me that if I was not at the studio within 10 minutes to get the beat, he was going to give the beat to Jay Z. The fact that he would give a great beat to an artist who wasn’t from our hometown would have burnt me up.”
