Rushing a student to a psychiatric emergency room is never routine, but when Stony Brook University logged three trips in three days, it did not surprise Jenny Hwang, the director of counseling. California Dispensary Offers Free Weed For Food Donations!!!

A California medical marijuana dispensary has raked in food donations with a unique offer: free pot. The Granny Purps dispensary in Soquel (soh-KEL’), about 60 miles southeast of San Francisco, offered a complimentary marijuana cigarette for every four cans of food a patient brought in this holiday season. Each patient was limited to a maximum of three cigarettes a day. The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports that the dispensary took in 11,000 pounds of food and handed out 2,000 marijuana cigarettes between November and Christmas Eve, when the promotion ended. @iBLONDEgenius


Flu Season Picks Up, Widespread in 5 States!

ATLANTA (AP) – Flu season appears to be picking up. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says five states had widespread reports of flu last week, up from zero two weeks earlier. A CDC report released Thursday says four of the states were in the South — Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia and Virginia. The other was New York. The report also says that tests of about 120 virus samples show the circulating flu strains seem to be well-matched to this season’s flu vaccine. Health officials say an estimated 23,600 flu-related deaths occur each year. @iBLONDEgenius


Company recalls ground beef over E. coli fears

A California company has recalled 34,373 pounds of organic ground beef over fears of E. coli contamination. First Class Foods Inc. of Hawthorne said recalled packages were produced on December 7 and December 16. They have “EST. 18895” printed on them, federal officials said. @funkmasterflex
