Newcomer Corey Hawkins, who starred as Dr. Dre in last year’s smash hit Straight Outta Compton, has just landed his next major role. The Juliard-trained actor will be starring in Fox’s new series 24: Legacy, a spinoff of the popular show, 24. Though only a pilot is ordered for now, 24: Legacy is expected to land a 13-episode order. Hawkins will play the lead role of Eric Carter, and per Vanity:

“Described as strong and smart, Eric came from a very rough background and turned his life around in the Army Rangers. Now back home in Virginia with his wife Nicole (yet to be cast), he’s pulled back into action as his past comes looking for him.”
