NBA: Thabo Sefolosha Says He’s in “Great Pain” & Blames NYPD For His Injury

Video was released of Thabo Sefolosha’s violent arrest where he was put in a headlock and thrown to the ground.  Another video showed an officer pulling out and swinging his baton but it’s unclear if it connected with Sefolosha.  In any event, Thabo was seriously injured and will miss the NBA playoffs where his Atlanta Hawks hold the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.  Sefolosha is publicly blaming the NYPD for the “significant injury” he suffered during the arrest last week.

(Video) NBA: New Video Shows NYPD Cowardly Hitting Thabo Sefolosha With A Baton Outside 1Oak

Thabo Sefolosha will definitely have quite a bit of video evidence on his side when he goes to court to fight his obstruction charge after he was arrested when Chris Copeland was stabbed outside 1oak in NYC. He already is out for the rest of the season for the Atlanta Hawks after he broke his ankle when police were overly aggressive with him for no particular reason. One video already showed them using unnecessary force and slamming him down even though he wasn’t resisting. This new angle shows a tough guy cop pulling out his baton and appearing to strike Thabo as he is already laying in the street with officers holding him down.

(Video) NBA: Introducing 2 Chainz as the Atlanta Hawks New CEO

(Photos) NBA: Congrats! Atlanta Hawks Unveil Statue Of Dominique Wilkins

The Hawks unveiled a large statue of franchise legend Dominique Wilkins on Thursday at Philips Arena, and it is well deserved and a long time coming. Julius Irving invited Wilkins on stage and counted down from 10 to the unveiling of the statue. An emotional Wilkins took a moment to gather himself before delivering his remarks to the audience.

NBA: Josh Smith Calls Atlanta Hawks Fans “Bandwagoners”

Josh Smith played with the Atlanta Hawks for nine seasons and during that time he averaged 15.3 points and eight rebounds a game.  Smith is an Atlanta native and the Hawks were good during that time but never great.  They were mired in mediocrity and just couldn’t seem to get over the hump or find that missing pice.  Smith didn’t help things much; his time was split between launching ill-advised jump shots and poor decision making but sometimes showing off his stunning athleticism.  After the nine seasons Smith bolted to the Detroit Pistons but even they became fed up and new coach and president Stan Van Gundy made the shocking decision of cutting him even with his large contract.  The Houston Rockets picked him up and Smith returned to Atlanta on Tuesday night with his new team to face his old team.
