NFL: Commissioner to Decide If Saints Coach Sean Payton’s Contract is Voided
New Orleans coach Sean Payton’s contract is set to expire after this year, making him a free agent. There’s a bit of confusion however since he’s been suspended for this year so there’s a chance his contract will toil over to cover the missed year. Payton’s contract status is up in the air. NFL: Roman Harper Says the Saints Would Be 5-0 Without the Bounty Scandal
While the court proceedings continue for the those allegedly involved in the bounty scandal, the remaining New Orleans Saints are struggling with a 1-4 record. With the head coach Sean Payton gone for a year as well as player suspensions, the team is currently last in their division. According to Roman Harper they would be 5-0 if this never happened. NFL: Saints QB Drew Brees Says the NFL is “Out of Control”
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been very vocal and critical of the suspensions involving his team surrounding bounty allegations. The players have appealed their suspensions with Jonathan Vilma leading the way. Many have felt the process is unfair with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell being in essence the judge and the jury. The lengthy memorandum issued by the NFL to all teams on Tuesday regarding the re-issued discipline in the Saints bounty scandal identifies former Vikings defensive lineman Jimmy Kennedy as the person who originally told former Vikings coach Brad Childress in early 2010 that the Saints had a bounty on former Vikings quarterback Brett Favre in the 2009 NFC title game.
