Darel Sterner was 85 years old and ran a barber shop in West Liberty, IL for more than 60 years and was a huge Cubs fans. Like many Cubs fans, he waited his entire life to see them win a world championship. There have been generations of fans who couldn’t live long enough to see it happen but Sterner did. He held on just long enough for the Cubs to win game seven over the Indians as he passed away three hours later. Instead of focusing on the sadness, his family believes he is up in heaven smiling and celebrating.
