To celebrate Black History Month, InFlexWeTrust will be honoring influential members of Black history daily throughout the month. Today, we are honoring the life of Daniel James Jr. Daniel “Chappie” James Jr., born in 1902, became the first African American to reach the four-star general rank while serving in the United States Air Force in 1975. In 1942, James graduated from the Tuskegee Institute with a degree in physical education. Although he remained at Tuskegee after graduation, he did not see combat action until the Korean War. James would go on to countless awards before passing away after a heart-attack, just three weeks after his air force retirement. Read more about Daniel James, Jr and his contributions below.

Daniel “Chappie†James, Jr. was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He was the first African American to reach the rank of four-star general.
