The Detroit Lions suffered a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday eliminating them from the playoffs and tying the NFL record of eight straight playoff losses.  Emotions ran high especially due to the non-call controversy.  Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is one of the most feared players in the NFL but the normally stern, tough guy showed his soft side as Ndamukong Suh cries during the postgame press conference.

The talk of the weekend that will likely flow into next weekend, is the blown call during the Dallas Cowboys-Detroit Lions Wild Card game on Sunday.  On third and one, Cowboys linebacker Anthony Hitchens appeared to interfere with Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew.  The flag was thrown, the foul was called, then what felt like minutes later, the ref picked up the flag and took away the call.  Instead of getting the crucial first down, the Lions ended up at 4th and 1, then received a delay of game 5-yard penalty and it all went down hill from there.  The Cowboys went on to win the game 24-20, moving them to the Divisional Round against the Green Bay Packers and eliminating the Lions from the playoffs.  The crucial non-call had the sports world buzzing especially since no explanation was given during the game but Pete Morelli explained later.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh won his appeal of a one-game suspension for stepping on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  Though Suh will be able to play during the Lions playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, he still has to pay a $70,000 fine.  Suh has built up a reputation for being a dirty player but during his appeal hearing he says stepping on Rodgers was unintentional and it happened because his feet were numb.

Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh was initially suspended for their upcoming playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys for stepping on Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers leg.  Suh won his appeal of the suspension but he was still fined $70,000.  While some people felt he deserved the punishment, some said it was unintentional and the league used a heavy hand because 1. Suh has a reputation and past history of dirty tactics and 2. the league has a very soft spot for Aaron Rodgers and does everything possible to protect him.  Well Lions quarterback, Matthew Stafford’s fiancée is apart of the latter group.
