Producer Of “Karate Chop” Reveals Lil Wayne’s Verse Was Leaked & Emmitt Till Line Was To Be Taken Out

Lil Wayne’s reference to Emmitt Till on Future’s “Karate Chop” subsequently got him dropped from his Mountain Dew endorsement…but it was actually never supposed to see the light of day. Now, that doesn’t make what he said any better, but at least it shows that the people around him and Future DID have the smarts to say “no” to something that was questionable. Find out who it ended up getting out via the song’s producer Metro Boomin’s interview with VIBE.

Lil Wayne Dropped From Mountain Dew, For Emmitt Till Lyrics Even After Apology

It seems it was just too little too late for Lil Wayne who was dropped from his Mountain Dew deal for a lyric using Emmitt Till’s name. Emmitt Till’s family immediately went up in arms after hearing the line and the backlash even caused Wayne to issue a formal apology. According to the associated press PepsiCo issued a statement saying that Wayne’s “offensive reference to a revered civil rights icon does not reflect the values of our brand,” causing them to cut ties. A publicist for Weezy says the parting was “amicable” and over “creative differences,” to which she concluded, “That’s about all I can tell you at this time.”

(Audio) Lil Wayne Gets Backlash From WHO For A Rap Lyric ???

It is black history month, so why not – right? Future released a remix to “Karate Chop” featuring Lil Wayne. In Wayne’s verse he states, “Beat that pussy up like Emmett Till.” Now, in case you didn’t know who Emmett Till was, he was a 14-year-old boy who in 1955 was mutilated, severely beaten, pistol whipped, shot, and murdered for trying to talk to a white woman (Sickening incident). Reps from the Till Estate are not liking the reference Wayne made, so now they are speaking out. The YMCMB founder is not the only artist to bring Emmett Till’s name into hip-hop – Kanye West and Remy Ma. What can you say about something like this? It is a vital piece of history that’s being butchered, however it’s only a comparison and there is the first Amendment. Drop down bottom and listen to what the reps have to say.
