NBA: Dwight Howard Discusses Deteriorating Relationship With James Harden & Rockets Reducing His Role

When Dwight Howard decided to team up with James Harden and the Houston Rockets, many thought it would drastically help the team.  Howard himself thought they would be the new Kobe and Shaq.  Unfortunately, things didn’t work out that way, and like others before, Howard’s relationship with Harden and the Rockets soured.  He has the opportunity to opt out of the $23.2 million final year of his contract, which is likely to happen.  Now he’s opening up about the situation.

NBA: Dwight Howard & James Harden Reportedly Tried to Get Each Other Traded

The NBA trade deadline is in just a few hours (February 18th at 3pm) and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports is reporting that general manager Daryl Morey is reaching out around the league about trading center Dwight Howard.  So far talks have fallen apart and the Rockets have rejected a couple offers.  Even if it doesn’t happen, that doesn’t change the mounting reports about a rift between Howard and James Harden.


NBA Report: Celtics and Rockets Discussed a Possible Dwight Howard Trade

Dwight Howard can become a free agent yet AGAIN but there likely won’t be a “Dwightmare” this time around.  With his nagging injuries and decline in production, teams aren’t banging down his door quite like they were before.  Howard has also said he wants to remain with the Houston Rockets but the Boston Celtics have reportedly engaged in trade talks.

There’s always been controversy surrounding the “hack-a-shaq” method where teams foul a bad free throw shooter multiple times; it’s usually a big man like DeAndre Jordan, Dwight Howard and the namesake of the method Shaquille O’Neal.  The Houston Rockets employed that method on Wednesday night during their game against the Detroit Pistons.  It lead to Andre Drummond missing an NBA record amount of free throws but the Pistons still won.
