FEMA Assistance Extended For Irene Victims

FEMA assistance for Hurricane Irene damage has been extended. The hurricane hit back in August but people are still struggling with the damage Irene caused. People effected by the disaster will not have until November 30 to register for disaster assistance. People can register three different ways for relief. Find out more after the jump. @Julie1205


Hurricane Irene Leads To Pumpkin Shortage

Even though Hurricane Irene has come and gone, she’s not done hitting the East Coast where it hurts-it’s wallet. Due to Irene, there maybe a pumpkin shortage this year especially in the Northeastern states. The shortage of pumpkins has already led to a price increase of wholesale prices which means buying pumpkins from the store will be much more than it was last year. Pumpkin farmers were having a hard time before the storm due to heavy rains this year, but Irene topped it off. Looks like I’ll have to be getting my pumpkins early this year! White House Submits Disaster Aid Package Request

The White House has submitted it’s disaster aid package request. The White House is requesting $5.1 billion for this year and next to refill the disaster relief fund. Because of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, the government is speculating that funds could run out by the end of this year. Read more after the jump. @Julie1205


(Video) Obama Visits Storm-Battered New Jersey

President Barack Obama reviewed damage inflicted by Hurricane Irene in northern New Jersey on Sunday, promising residents, “We’ll be there to help.” Obama visited the towns of Paterson and Wayne, where residents showed the high-water marks from the flooding spawned by last week’s hurricane. Gov. Cuomo’s Labor For Your Neighbor
