Jada Pinkett-Smith has been booked as executive producer and leading lady in the upcoming ABC pilot Murder Town. The television drama, written by Barry Schindel [Castle], has been called on a put pilot commitment, which means if it’s not good enough for a series commitment, the network will have to dish out a massive amount of cash. Chicago witnessed a tragic murder this week after 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee was gunned down in an alley way on Monday night in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side of Chiraq. According to police, an argument broke out and numerous shots rang off – fatally hitting the boy numerous times all over his body. Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith took to her Facebook page to pen a touching letter to the slain boy, his mother and the community about gun violence in the streets.

Jada Pinkett Smith shared a little known fact about her classic film ‘Set It Off’ Tuesday night. The actress uploaded a throwback photo of the cast featuring her co-stars Vivica A. Fox, Queen Latifah and Kimberly Elise. The film, directed by F. Gary Gray tells the story of four friends in L.A. who rob a bank. ‘Set it Off’ made history in 1996 earning $41 million against it $9 million budget. The four leading ladies did a tremendous job in the film, however Jada revealed that despite her success she didn’t actually want to play the part of Stony, she really wanted another role.
