NBA: Mike Conley Signs With Jordan Brand And Is Happy He Never Has To Wear Chef Curry’s Again

Mike Conley has so many reasons to smile heading into this NBA season. The Grizzlies point guard is the highest paid player in the league after signing his massive $153 million dollar contract this summer. He also is on a team that always finds a way to be competitive, even when you think they won’t. Perhaps what brings the biggest smile to his face at the moment however is the fact he will never have to wear Steph Curry’s Under Armour kicks again after signing with Jordan brand.

Mike Conley may not have the same name recognition as NBA stars like Carmelo Anthony or Lebron James but after signing his $153 million dollar contract with the Grizzlies, he certainly has the same money as guys like that and he knows with money comes responsibility. Conley admitted to not even being able to celebrate or feel happy for his new deal because of all the things going on in the world, especially here at home, with the shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile at the hands of police and the shooting deaths of five police officers in Dallas. He knows it’s time for change and he used the opportunity of his press conference this week to speak on it and explain how he was inspired by Melo, Lebron, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade after their speech at the ESPYS.

In Game 3, Portland Trail Blazers guard C.J. McCollum accidentally elbowed Memphis Grizzlies guard Mike Conley in the face. McCollum’s elbow caught Conley in his left eye, fracturing bones around it. Conley left the game and had to undergo surgey to repair the fracture. The surgey was successful but caused some serious swelling in Conley’s face.  Conley returned during game 5 to support his teammates and wasn’t shy about his busted eye being on display.
