N.W.A + Janet Jackson Nominated For 2016 Rock Hall Of Fame

Congratulations are in order for N.W.A. and Janet Jackson after being two of the nominees for the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The classic group and pop superstar share the ballot with Chaka Khan, Chic, The Cars, Chicago, Deep Purple, Cheap Trick. N.W.A. is up for nomination for the fourth time, while Janet Jackson earns her first. Billboard artists are eligible for the Rock Hall of Fame up to 25 years after the release of their first recording, album, or single. Read more below.


Straight Outta Compton Is #1 For The Third Week In A Row

In its third week in theaters, Straight Outta Compton is at number one once again! The biopic brought in another $13.2 million this past weekend, bringing its total to a whopping $134.1 million so far! This makes the F. Gary Gray film officially the highest-grossing music biopic of all time, taking the accolade from the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, which earned $119.5 million. These guys are killing it! They’re currently in Australia for the SOC premiere Down Under, so this is only going to get bigger!


N.W.A.’s Debut Album Is Back In The Top 5 On The Billboard 200

How dope is this? After over 25 years, N.W.A.’s debut album Straight Outta Compton is back in the top 10 on the Billboard 200, thanks to the success of their biopic of the same name. The album comes in at number 4, having moved 44k units since last week. Dr. Dre’s new Compton album also had a good week, coming in at number 3 with an additional 51k units sold since its debut last week. Cube and Eazy-E also re-appear, with Cube at 99 for 1991’s Death Certificate (6k units), his greatest hits compilation appears at #118 and his solo debut, Amerikkka’s Most Wanted, at 150, while Eazy‘s 2002 posthumous compilation Eazy-Duz-It/5150 4 Tha Sick lands at 33 with 12k sold. Also on the charts is the late Chinx, who makes his Billboard 200 debut with his debut album Welcome To JFK. The project comes in at number 21 with a strong 17k units sold! I wish he was here to see that!

The N.W.A. bio pic Straight Outta Compton has not only been shattering records in the box office but is also the cause of records being broken on the Billboard charts.
