Ouch! Gambler Sues Las Vegas Casino After Losing $500,000 While Being Blacked Out Drunk

After a night of extreme boozing, a super wealthy business man is fighting with a casino that he doesn’t have to pay his $500,000 loss because he was “blacked out drunk.” 52-year-old Mark Johnston hit up the Downtown Grand casino to play high-stakes pai gao poker and blackjack after losing hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process. He’s arguing that under Nevada law, the casino was wrong for serving him more alcohol after he appeared to be visibly intoxicated. “It’s certainly an extraordinary case. This is not a story that I’ve ever heard before, where someone was blackout intoxicated where they couldn’t read their cards, and yet a casino continued to serve them drinks and issue them more markers,” explained Seal Lyttle, Johnston’s attorney. “It’s a very heavy-handed and unusual approach that we haven’t seen in this town in a long time.”
