Michelle Obama Praises Chance The Rapper For Donating $1 Million To Chicago Public Schools

Michelle Obama and Chance The Rapper share a hometown in Chicago, and the former FLOTUS is beyond proud of the philanthropic efforts of Chance for their city. Just yesterday, the rapper donated a staggering $1 million to the Chicago Public School system (specifically for the arts,) following a disappointing meeting with Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner about the CPS on Friday. He also set up a fundraiser where for every $100k raised, he will match it with $10k.

Jayden had been wearing a prosthetic eye, after losing it to retinoblastoma as an infant. We told the story of how Fetty also lost his eye as a child, due to glaucoma. Stopping in Denver on the his tour, Fetty invited Jayden and family backstage for one unforgettable night. Fetty had initially heard about Jayden in 2015, and wanted to have a chance to meet up with his fan.

On behalf of his charity 4Hundredwayz, YG teamed up with Bompton Compton mayor Aja Brown to feed the homeless this Thanksgiving. It’s so great to see how many celebs get into the giving spirit this time of year! “We just here to get everybody in the spirits, you feel me?” YG said of the event that went down the day before Thanksgiving. “Let them know we out here supporting. We’re helping out, doing what we could.” Joined by his mom, his friends and more, the crew fed 500 families from their hometown! So dope. Check out a video of the day below.


Kanye West Donates 6 Figures To ‘Donda’s House’ – His Late Mother’s Foundation For Aspiring Chicago Artists

Kanye West has broken a donation record at his late mother’s foundation Donda’s House, donating a whopping $133,000 to support the young and aspiring artists in their hometown of Chicago. Complex reports that a portion of Ye’s Donda’s House donation came from the money he earned by performing multiple shows for the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris recently, while the rest was out of pocket. There are currently 160 artists who are supported by the foundation, and Yeezy’s generous donation will no doubt benefit them greatly! “Kanye’s generosity is greatly appreciated and will improve our capacity with new staff as we deliver the high-quality arts programming that our participants deserve,” the charity’s Executive Director Donnie Smith said in a statement. So dope of Ye!


Awesome! Kelly Rowland Helps Raise Over $800,000 With Mother’s Day Concert

Kelly Rowland was the featured performer this past Mother’s Day weekend at the Magpie Nest Housing Project in Melbourne, Australia. The special concert was put together by the charity-based organization, and ended up raising a whopping $800,000 for them, which will go toward homeless families, helping to place all the necessary supports around a resident to increase the possibility of them addressing their issues and moving forward with their lives. “I was delighted to support a program that provides housing for the people of Melbourne without homes,” Kelly said of the effort. It’s always nice to hear things like this!
