NBA: Damian Lillard Discusses LaMarcus Aldridge Leaving Trail Blazers After He Asked Him To Stay

Four of the five starters for the Portland Trailblazers have left this offseason leaving the new franchise star Damian Lillard all alone.  He’s signed a five-year, $120 million extension that keeps him in Rip City until the 2021 season, and he’s now the longest-tenured Blazer, going into his fourth NBA season.  Lillard publicly reached out to LaMarcus Aldridge to try and convince him to stay but he chose to sign with the San Antonio Spurs.  There was talk that Aldridge resented Lillard’s emergence as the face of the franchise.  But Lillard said that there are no hard feelings between them, and they’re on good terms.

Chris Paul was hopping mad as the Clippers gave away a 10-point lead in the final three minutes before losing to the Blazers 98-93 in overtime on Wednesday.  Paul’s frustration hit its peak in the closing seconds of regulation. With 2.8 seconds remaining and the game tied at 87, Paul tossed up a potential game-winning runner that banked off the glass and rimmed out. The rebound then fell to DeAndre Jordan, who grabbed the ball but held it in his hand instead of attempting a putback, seemingly because he believed that time had expired.


NBA: Denver Nuggets Trade Arron Afflalo to Portland Trailblazers in 5-Player Deal

The NBA trade deadline is today at 3 pm and many pieces are expected to fall.  Here’s the first one.  The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired Denver Nuggets guard Arron Afflalo in a five-player trade.

The Los Angeles Lakers without Kobe Bryant, hung around for three quarters against the Portland Trailblazers but the fourth quarter was all about Damian Lillard.  He put up 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting in that time and included this monster dunk.

Fans at the Portland Trailblazers game last night against the Indiana Pacers got an unexpected surprise when an over sized inflatable blimp in the shape of appears to be a Ford Edge, fell from the rafters and wound up trapping some fans in their seats. Pictures were all over social media by nights end and thankfully nobody was hurt. The blimp was there courtesy of a dealership as it was part of a contest. Fans said it actually took a while to clear it away from people and out of the arena even though the arena crew was scrambling to get it done. Hit the jump.
