French Montana Signs To Epic Records

Now that Bad Boy has moved from Interscope to Epic Records, they’re bringing some of their former roster with them. French Montana just announced that he is officially a part of the Epic family, inking a joint deal with them and Puff’s Bad Boy imprint. “Anyone who has paid attention to the course of hip-hop over the past decade has found French Montana consistently at the eye of the storm,” Epic Chairman and CEO LA Reid said in a statement. “He has funneled his North African roots and Bronx upbringing into a unique presence on hundreds of tracks by artists across the musical spectrum. French has now become one of hip-hop’s core artists himself, and I’m happy to welcome him to the Epic family.” Check out Diddy’s statement below.


This Kid Got A Record Deal, All Because His Song Randomly Played After Kanye’s On SoundCloud

Rory Fresco’s life got the ultimate turn-around this year, thanks to Kanye West and Soundcloud. In Soundcloud’s auto-play algorithm, the Kansas City rapper’s “Lowkey” single was cued to play right after Kanye’s now-deleted “Real Friends.” Soundcloud uses mathematics to auto-play related songs, actually leading to some pretty dope music discoveries. After just one day, Fresco’s single went from an impressive 5,000 plays on its own, to a whopping 150,000 plays with the help of Pablo, so to speak, earning him the attention of Epic Records.

Keke Palmer Inks A Deal With Island Records

Keke Palmer has secured a deal with Island Records, and is already in the studio working on her next project, with the first single expected this fall. The deal was confirmed to Page Six by Island President, David Massey. While the deal is new, however, Keke is no stranger to music. She singer/actress released her first album in 2007, and has since released three mixtapes as well. Congrats, boo!
