NFL: Former Cowboys Player Josh Brent Sentenced To 180 Days For Crash That Killed Teammate
Former Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent was sentence this morning to 180 days in jail and 10 years probation for causing the death of his former teammate Jerry Brown. Brent was convicted this past Wednesday of intoxication manslaughter for the December 2012 crash on a suburban Dallas highway that killed Brown, who was a passenger in Brent’s car. Brent could have been sentenced to up to 20 years in prison. Brent by no means seems like a bad person, he just made a bad decision. His alcohol level the night of the crash was 0.18, which is twice more than the legal limit in Texas. The Brown family has been very forgiving of Brent, as they have known him for years, even prior to being teammates with their son in Dallas. This is not the first time Brent was arrested for DWI. He caught a charge for the same thing back in 2009. I sincerely hope he has learned his lesson.
NFL: 23-Year-Old Convicted of Murder in Sean Taylor’s Death Gets 57.5 Years
Back in November Eric Rivera Jr. was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2007 slaying of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor. Today we learned his sentencing…57.5 years in jail. Such a sad story all around. SMH. Hopefully this will bring some peace to Taylor’s family. Three of the other four accused men have pleaded not guilty, and are awaiting trial. Joe Francis Sentenced To 9 Months In Jail
“Girls Gone Wild” creator Joe Francis has just been sentenced to 270 days in jail for attacking a woman at his home back in 2011. He allegedly hoke-slammed her head into his tile floor, and ultimately was convicted on 5 charges: 1 for assault, 3 counts of false imprisonment, and 1 count of dissuading a witness from reporting. He’s also been sentenced to 36 months probation and has been ordered to complete a Level 3 Anger Management course, as well as 1 year of psychological counseling at a rate of 1 session per week.
