Slick Rick Announces First Overseas Date Since Earning U.S. Citizenship

After a 23-year battle, UK-born Slick Rick finally became a U.S. citizen this past April. Now, he’ll be taking his stage show international for the first time since 1990! The Ruler will hit the stage in Cologne, Germany July 31, as part of the Out4FAME Festival. Also appearing will be fellow greats De La Soul, Method Man, Redman, Rick Ross and more.


Slick Rick Announces ‘Victory Tour’

Now that he’s officially a U.S. citizen, Slick Rick is hitting the road on a victory tour. The Victory Tour begins with Kentucky Derby Festival’s “Waterfront Jam” on Tuesday, May 3, then travels to several cities across the Midwest and South. Of course a hometown show in New York City is in the works – Rick moved to the BX at age 11 from the UK. Details for NYC will be announced soon. “I’m celebrating a new beginning and am thankful for the many blessings already coming my way,” said Slick Rick. “One is the blessing of doing what I do best – perform – to celebrate the victory of citizenship after living in this country for so many years. After 40 years here, UK-born Slick Rick finally became a U.S. citizen in a ceremony in NYC on Friday morning. While there, he also spoke with Billboard, and revealed that he already has plans with his new citizenship, and they include voting for Hillary Clinton.
