(Photos) On The Set Of Lupe Fiasco’s “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)”

It’s only been out a few weeks, but Lupe Fiasco’s track “Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)” has already caused a major impact on hip-hop after a public semi-fued with legend Pete Rock. Lupe traveled back to his home in the Chi for the track’s visual, and though Pete Rock was definiely not on set, up & comers L.E.P. Bogus Boys were in the building. Lupe Fiasco & Pete Rock Reconcile Over “T.R.O.Y.” Remake

On Monday night, Lupe Fiasco released a new track off his forthcoming project. The song, “Around My Way,” was over Pete Rock’s classic “T.R.O.Y.” beat, but slightly redone as they couldn’t get the rights to the original. When Pete Rock caught wind of the new version, he was very upset that a song so personal to him had been remade in such a fashion, and took to his Twitter to express his anger not so much toward Lupe but the whole thing in general, specifically the producer. Lupe touched on the topic yesterday during an interview, but now it seems the two have spoke and patched it up and all is well. Details below. Marisa Mendez

Producer @PeteRock Shows A Strong Disapproval Towards New Lupe Fiasco Song Remaking T.R.O.Y.

In reaction to Lupe Fiasco’s latest release, legendary hip hop producer Pete Rock has lashed out on Twitter due to Lupe’s effort in remaking Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s dedication to fallen Heavy D & the Boyz’ member & cousin Troy Dixon aka “Trouble” T. Roy off their 1992 LP “Mecca and the Soul Brother”. Though Pete says he’s a fan of Lupe’s, his Tweets available after the jump show a strong dislike for the new song. Dj RellyRell
