Cool Like That: Digable Planets Announce Reunion Tour

Following their New Year’s Eve performance this year, the beginning of the reunion of Digable Planets has begun to take effect. This summer, the legendary hip-hop group will embark on a full tour throughout July and August. Most of the announced dates are in the South and Mid-Atlantic regions, with more dates (and surely an NYC show) TBA. Pusha T also joins the group on the last date of the tour. Entertainment Tonight unearthed a 1994 home video of a 13-year-old Kimmy at her 8th grade graduation, who clearly knew at an early age that she was destined for stardom. “Does anyone have a tape of this?” she asked. “Because I want you to remember me when I’m famous as this beautiful little girl.” She also goes on to detail how she’s “dope on a rope” and shows off some killer dance moves, and it’s pretty much the greatest thing ever. I love how her voice is just like Kourtney’s, LOL! Check out the throwback video below!

As apart of his “Throwback Thursday” series, legendary DJ Tim Westwood shared yet another never before heard freestyle. This go ’round, Westwood unearthed a rare Cam’ron freestyle from 1998. You can hear Killa, rapping over the beat, “Thug niggas using Macintosh, givin’ back massage, entourage, we on Hollis, make you leave New York quicker than John Wallace.” Check it out below.


IFWT Remembers Static Major On The Day Of His Passing

On this day in 2008, we lost singer/songwriter, Static Major – just as he was gaining recognition in FRONT of the camera for Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop.” Static passed suddenly, after succumbing to a rare autoimmune disorder called myasthenia gravis. He was also on the verge of releasing his debut album. Today, we celebrate his life and memory with some of the biggest hits the KY native had a hand in crafting. RIP, Static Major!
