Macklemore Reveals He Regrets Not Warning Iggy Azalea About Name Dropping In ‘White Privilege II’

At the top of the year, Macklemore released his record “White Privilege II”, off his recently released album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. In the nearly nine minute song he explores the the racial injustice happening in America, Black Lives Matter and more.  At one point, Macklemore suggests artists like Miley Cyrus, Elvis and Iggy Azalea have “exploited and stolen the music, the moment/ The magic, the passion, the fashion, you toy with/ The culture was never yours to make better.” The Seattle rapper’s bars only lead to drama stirred up by Iggy Azalea who took the name drop personally and tweeted, “he shouldnt have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings.” Looking back at the situation, Macklemore has reflected and admits that while he stands by what he said, he should have let her know about the name-drop before the track was released. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform their single “White Privilege II” off their forthcoming album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. The single was released last month and drew mixed opinions from various artists including, Iggy Azalea to Talib Kweli to Machine Gun Kelly on Macklemore’s decision to address privilege and racism. Macklemore’s “White Privilege II” calls on a few names of individuals that seem to take the culture of other races, and use it for their own personal use; Iggy Azalea is one of those names. Although she sorta voiced her opinion before-and got slammed for it-she has something to say again. While running through LAX, TMZ spotted Iggy. A cameraman asked the “Azillion” artist shows Mack nothing but respect. She agrees with him to an extent-that extent being her name drop.

Friday (January 22)rapper, Macklemore released his record “White Privilege II”, off his upcoming album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. The track is the sequel to his record “White Privilege” from his The Language Of My World album and in the nearly nine minute song he explores the the racial injustice happening in America, Black Lives Matter and more. At one point, Macklemore suggests artists like Miley Cyrus, Elvis and Iggy Azalea have “exploited and stolen the music, the moment/ The magic, the passion, the fashion, you toy with/ The culture was never yours to make better.” After being questioned by a fan on Twitter about her feelings on Macklemore’s lyrics, Iggy shot back saying “He shouldn’t have spent the last 3 yrs having friendly convos and taking pictures together at events etc if those were his feelings.” Now, Talib Kweli is chiming in on the conversation around the so-called “diss” saying Iggy Azalea misinterpreted the lyrics, which backs everything Macklemore was talking about.
