Earlier this year Yasiin Bey formerly known as Mos Def announced his retirement. Before he officially retires though he promised that he would drop at least three albums. The first being the collaborative album with Ferrari Sheppard “December 99th” and then his collaborative effort with Mannie Fresh, “Negus In Natural Person, As Promised.” Originally “December 99th” was supposed to drop on December 9th but after minor pushback, it finally arrives. Yasiin Bey Is Now Allowed To Leave South Africa After Apologizing To Government

Yasiin Bey, who most of us know as ‘Mos Def,’ is now being allowed to leave South Africa after apologizing to the government. He will now be considered a “undesirable person” and can no longer re-enter back into South Africa in the future. Earlier in the year, he was arrested after trying to leave South Africa using a World Passport.

Yasiin Bey, who a lot of us know as ‘Mos Def,’ has recently announced his retirement. Fans from all over were hoping that he had a change of heart, but the chances of that are looking pretty slim. Bey took to Facebook to say he is now throwing the towel in but will be giving one last concert.


Yasiin Bey’s South African Court Date Delayed

Yasiin Bey had his day in South African court, Tuesday (March 8th). It started out as a rough morning when he was turned away for wearing a turban. According to TMZ reports, refused to take it off and left court, showing up later with a lose scarf covering his head. Court proceedings went on rather quickly, as the state requested a postponement of the official court hearing while they finish their investigation into the matter. In case you missed it, Yasiin Bey was arrested and detained earlier this year for presenting a ‘world passport’ when trying to leave the South African after overstaying his visitors permit. The ‘world passport’ better known as, “World Government of World Citizens” is not recognized by the country. More below.

Brooklyn born rapper Yasiin Bey – formerly known as Mos Def- moved himself out of the United States to Cape Town, South Africa back in 2013.At the top of the year, (January 15th) he was arrested and banned from the country for five years after presenting a ‘world passport’ when trying to leave the South African after overstaying his visitors permit. The ‘world passport’ better known as, “World Government of World Citizens” is not recognized by the country. Yasiin Bey showed up for his court hearing Tuesday (March 8th) however was turned away for wearing a turban. It would seem as though the recent events in the life of Yasiin Bey have forced him into retirement. Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, was detained in South Africa for using an expired visa and a world passport. A special message from Yasin Bey was posted to Kanye West’s website, being a retirement from music and film. “Effective immediately,” following the last album to be released this year, the retirement will take place.
