Michael Jordan can now officially thank the governor of North Carolina for ruining all-star weekend for his Charlotte Hornets. The league was strongly considering moving the weekend from Charlotte next season because of a state law that limits anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people. This morning they made the move official, announcing that New Orleans will host the weekend again after having it in 2014.

It’s really nice to see famous athletes do things like this for their fans. During the All Star game Carmelo Anthony came across a special fan wearing an Eastern Conference jersey. He stopped, took off the sneakers he was wearing for the game and signed them for the fan. He also took a selfie with the excited young man.

The night was all about Kobe Bryant but in the end it was Russell Westbrook who stole the show, again! For the second year in a row, Westbrook was named MVP of the all star game, finishing with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was competitive until the 4th quarter when the West started to pull away as both teams shattered previous scoring records. Paul George finished only one point shy of the individual all star scoring record with 41 points but seeing as it came in a loss, it doesn’t hold as much weight.

You can pretty much kill any rumors you may have heard after Floyd Mayweather spoke with David Aldridge during the NBA All Star game. You knew Aldridge was going to have to ask about the fight and the rumors that he and Pacquiao agreed to a $250 million dollar fight. Floyd flat out said that was false and that neither himself or Manny have signed anything, which disputes everything we have been told about Manny allegedly already signing. At this point nobody even wants to hear about who hasn’t signed what. Let us know when something is actually signed.

There have been some dope plays so far, including Lebron setting things off with a tough alley oop, which was eventually followed by Steph Curry & James Harden hooking up for a mean throw down as well. Russell Westbrook is the star of stars so far though with 27 points and a couple jaw dropping plays.
