Hip Hop veteran Ice T has discussed the makings and influence behind the classic sampling of his ’99 Problems’ track, inspired by a line said by 2 Live Crew’s Brother Marquis. Ice T explained that the line came after Brother Marquis and himself were reminiscing on the wonders of the strip club when Marquis simply said ‘Man, I got 99 Problems and a B***h aint one!’ The rest was history. Ice-T reunited with his old metal band Body Count to perform their most controversial track “Cop Killer.” The anthem of “getting even” with the injustice of police brutality which came out in 1992 caused major backlash all over the country. Ironically enough, the “Cop Killer” singer now plays a cop every day in “Law & Order: SVU” but that didn’t stop him from screaming a big, “F*CK THE POLICE!” to all of Gramercy Theatre yesterday night. In the candid interview, T talks about the lack of black artists in Rock & Roll. “Black people invented rock n’ roll. When you look at Little Richard and Chuck Berry and people like that that’s just where it all came from. And I tell people Hip Hop is rock. We don’t R&B the mic. We rock the mic. We rock the house.
