What’s Independence Day without its star, Will Smith?! I’m not sure, but I don’t think I care enough to find out. The 1996 blockbuster is finally getting a sequel, set to hit theaters in 2014, but unfortunately Will Smith won’t be a part of it! “Will Smith cannot come back because he’s too expensive, but he’d also be too much of a marquee name,” the film’s director Roland Emmeric said in a statement. “It would be too much.” Do you think you’d still want to see it?
“Independence Day” Sequel Is In The Works…Almost 20 Years Later!
Last year the black suits and Raybands were pulled out for “MIB 3”, the first in the film series in 10 years. Now another Will Smith classic is being pulled from the archives, and this one is even older! After a successful release in 1996, “Independence Day” is preparing for a sequel. Two sequels, to be exact! Some of the original cast has signed on already too! Details below.
