First Week Sales Projections For Jay Rock’s ‘90059’

Jay Rock finally released his long-awaited album, 90059, this past Friday. The project had gone up for pre-order last month, and after TDE issued a statement that they wouldn’t drop it until it garnered 50k pre-orders, we got a release date of September 11. Did this mean they’d achieved the goal? Apparently it didn’t, as early forecasts are now in, and 90059 is on pace to do around 15k–18k SPS in its first week. Kind of a surprise knowing TDE‘s hardcore following, no? Let us know your thoughts on the numbers in the comments!

(Audio) LOL! Kendrick Lamar Prank Calls Jay Rock

Jay Rock got punked by Kendrick Lamar and Power 106 when he picked up a phone call on-air thinking it was a female fan. When Jay Rock answered the phone the “female fan” told him “I like ’em tall, dark, and handsome,” and then tried to get his number. Rock declined saying, You know I don’t give my number out on-air,” but told her to “hit me up on Tinder.” Instantly the caller’s voice went from high pitched to the deep tone of Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock cracked up saying, “What up K-Dot! You a fool!” Kendrick called in the station to congratulate Jay Rock on the release of his album 90059 and added, Rock “has always been the big bro,” Listen to the prank call below.

Among them, Kendrick Lamar continues to show us that it’s about more than just music, Ab-Soul shows us how to see the music with our eyes closed, and up next on the roster, Jay Rock plans to show fans how it goes down in Watts, California. As he nears the release of his sophomore album, 90059, the “Easy Bake” rapper drops a mini documentary that includes his reasoning for giving his album a five-digit number title. “90059 is my zip code,” Jay Rock explains during a listening session in Los Angeles. “That’s the area where I come from.” Find out more after the jump.
