’12 Years A Slave’ is the true story of a freed New Yorker Solomon Northup, who was kidnaped and sold into slavery. Northup, played by actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, was tricked into playing a violin gig in a borderline state during slavery and was kidnapped by the alleged promoters of the event. Once in the south, the freed New Yorker was stripped of his identity and sold into slavery, where he remain a slave for 12 years in Louisiana. I think this movie sends a very strong message to people of every race. It provides a true look at America’s past, an understanding to our new generation of their ancestors, and an answer the root of disfunction in our society. BREAKING NEWS: Morning After Pill Approved For Over-The-Counter Sale To Young Teens
Today, the FDA announced the “morning after pill” better known as “Plan B” should be available without a prescription for teenagers beginning at age 15. “Plan B One-Step will not stop a pregnancy when a woman is already pregnant, and there is no medical evidence that the product will harm a developing fetus,” the FDA said in a statement. NYC High School Student Given Birth Control & Morning After Pill Without Parents Knowing
Students at 13 New York City high schools were given the morning after pill and other forms of birth control without their parents being informed. The school nurse can given students oral or inject-able contraceptives along with ‘Plan B’ without parental consent unless parents opt of the of program. CATCH, Connecting Adolescents To Comprehensive Health, has teamed up with the schools to prevent teen pregnancies that ultimately lead to more students dropping out of school and never receiving the proper education needed for a good job. Many think the program is a good idea so those who wanted to have sex young are at least using protection while others believe it will encourage more youth to have sex before they are ready condoms and Plan B are more readily available so they will never know the seriousness of having sex.
