It’s Official, Blackberry Is Selling For $4.7B….But Will It Help?!?

I ask because the people buying it are more about investment, and not Tech. I feel like the only way Blackberry could make a come back is a Tech company took over.

RIM Changes It’s Name To Blackberry

To the average consumer they were both the samething in the first place, I personally never heard anyone say they were getting a RIM Blackberry, the company and device went together for a lot of folks. The announcement came earlier today when they announced their newer devices the Z10 and The Q10. What does this mean for RIM/Blackberry, nothing much but building a stronger brand name for itself and trying to dig themselves out of a hole RIM created. Hopefully the name change will bring a new change on how the company will be ran from here on out.

RIM Super Bowl Ad to Show Off BlackBerry 10

Looks like RIM will be getting a big boost with potential  sales with a commercial in next weeks Super Bowl.  The commercial will focus on their big release of their BB10 device, RIM confirmed the news yesterday. The commercial will be RIM’s big debut as a company, a first for the Canada-based company which they have a commercial in the Super Bowl. “A Super Bowl commercial is a great opportunity to show the re-designed, re-engineered and re-invented BlackBerry to tens of millions of consumers on the largest advertising stage of the year,” RIM’s chief marketing officer, Frank Boulben, said in a statement.” Hopefully this will get RIM more exposure for their new device since they haven’t released a new device in over a year.

Lenovo Back Tracks On RIM Acquisition Rumors

Last week Lenovo’s CFO said that the company had an interest in putting a bid on mobile company RIM to build up it’s mobile business. It not looks the company is now back tracking on it’s statement. The CFO said “Lenovo is very focused on growing its business, both organically and through M&A”. Either way investing in RIM did’nt look like a good idea in the first place. Lenovo should be looking it’s mobile though it’s own company. Even RIM does have new devices dropping this year, we have to see how the public responds to them when they are released.
