R. Kelly’s daughter Jaya (who now goes by Jay) recently came out that she’s transgender and is making the transformation from girl to boy. Kelly refuses to do so. Andrea Kelly says, “That’s like calling him [R. Kelly] a background singer, not the king of R&B.” WELP, at least the 14-year-old has the support of his mother!

Jaya Kelly, the youngest child of R. Kelly and Andrea Kelly, has come out as transgender, making the transition from a female to a male. He is now going as Jay and wants to be identified as a man. The son of the famous R&B singer and Hollywood Exes actress began answering questions from anonymous users about his journey as a 13-year-old transgender on Ask.fm. According to Jay, he’s identified himself as a young boy ever since the tender age of 6 or 7. To further complete his gender transition, Jay plans to take testosterone and to eventually have an official sex change surgery. “I believe I am a boy and want surgery, and the medication to help me who I was supposed to be.” “[My mom] was like, ‘Baby, you know I love you if you were bi, gay, [lesbian], you name it and I would still love you so much. She was very proud of me, I was like, ‘Thank you mum for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender,” Jay says on getting support from his mother. He also has been receiving support from his sister. He adds, “And same with my sister, she told me that she was proud of me, and respects me by calling me handsome and calling me her little brother now, and I love her for that, so you know it was great for me.” However, R. Kelly has yet to speak out on his child’s decision.
