I found an article quite interesting, especially since as of late we’ve kinda had this debate in the #IFWT offices, Our question among each other was “Is Facebook Finished??” This is a bit different, yet the same premise, Hit the Jump for deet’s.

Ok I actually got a newsletter from LinkedIn spouting business info from across the Web, of course Facebook buying instagram was the top article, but right after was an article about how that purchase was a sign of desperation on facebook’s behalf, it was a sign that Zuck was nervous and didn’t want anything to be cooler than Facebook, And then it went on to say that Zuck was Late on that anyway because Facebook lost it’s cool a while back when it opened up to Biz brand pages, and allowed commercials on it. That is kinda true, we stopped going on as much once the ads took over, and that was the argument we had at #IFWT, Flex was saying it wasn’t the cool thing anymore, so it was finished(but only in the sense of not being the cool thing any more), And We(the rest of the Team & I) told him it wasn’t exactly finished in the sense we normally know things to be finished(i.e. myspace/black planet), it has carved out a Niche for it’s self as the digital family photo album(and that why it kinda makes sense they bought instagram), Facebook is the best way to keep in touch with people like family and your real close friends, and some colleague’s that may have been more than just about business(those were my arguments actually, the rest of the team just said they still go on facebook).
Which brings us back to this Article, They were saying LinkedIN doesn’t have to worry about ‘staying Cool’, because they have a found a Niche with being Social Business, and That IS totally correct!! They really do NOT need to stay cool, because Cool is what the youth say it is(at least in this sense of Cool), and Business is NOT cool to the youth(I happen to find LinkedIn cool, But I just joined like 2 weeks ago 0_o ).
So technically LinkedIn won’t have to jump through hoops like other social networks in order to stay where they are at, yet the will grow as the youth grow up in Social Media, get used to it, then move onto linkedIn as part of their adult life. BUT Facebook(in my opinion) will settle down to the place where you stay in touch with those that matter to you!!! So they will both survive!!!
