Besides the huge surprise of the night with the Celtics trading KG & Pierce to the Brooklyn Nets, there was one other big surprise last night during the NBA draft. “Experts”, and I use that term lightly, had been saying all along that Kentucky Forward Nerlens Noel would be the #1 pick of the NBA draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Wrong! The Cavs surprised alot of people by going with UNLV forward Anthony Bennett, and I agree 100% with their choice. Read more coverage of the draft after the jump.

If you do not know Anthony Bennett then you better get familiar. Dude is a straight beast. He left school after only one year as a freshman, but when you watched him play you would forget how young he is. In my opinion he has much more overall potential than Noel, who at best will be a good shot blocker in the NBA, but I don’t think much else and seems the Cavs thought the same way. Suddenly Cleveland has a nice young core of good players that can eventually blossom into a very good team. Noel wound up falling all the way to the 6th pick with the New Orleans Pelicans, but was then traded to the 76ers for Jrue Holiday. The draft was full of unknown questions as to who would wind up where since it wasn’t regarded as a talented draft class. To see the entire results of the draft you can click HERE.
