After being kicked out of the Adventure Oasis water park in Independence, M.O., Madelyn Sheaffer is not at a loss for words. And justly so, as she reveals her story and what led up to her having the courage to enter the water park in her bikini deemed “skimpy.” Hit the jump to see what she had to say.

She first claimed that her expulsion from the park was a result of not too little clothing, but age discrimination. Now she has accepted the latter, but tells her story.

It appears that Sheaffer has struggled with her body image since she was a child. She has claimed that her bout with childhood (and later, adulthood) obesity and how she overcame it deems her a role model for others to follow.

She told reporters, “I am a person who at one time wore clothes that covered my arms and legs completely. I am not someone who would wear something that was revealing or inappropriate.”

The 42-year-old woman has –for the past 7 years– been relentlessly working to stay fit and in shape after gaining as much as 255 pounds.

“I am [now] comfortable in my bikini. I am happy with who I am. My first reaction was why are you singling me out? They said that my bottoms were inappropriate. That was funny to me because they are full-size bottoms. I felt it had more to do with my top because I am large-busted,” further stating, “my body is strong and healthy. Body-building empowers women to be secure and self confident.”

New York Daily News went on to say, “It took her two years to lose 100 pounds and she maintained the weight loss for five years. Today, at 170 pounds, Sheaffer’s happy with the results.”
