Samara Banks, a 28 year old mother of four, who was known well by cab services (due to her frequent usage) decided to walk instead, the night that she was killed. The weather had gotten less humid and a family member explained that “she felt she could walk”. Tragically Banks and three of her children never made it to the other side of the intersection, they were struck by two drivers. In 2009 another woman was struck in the same intersection by a vehicle as she was leaving a Chinese takeout restaurant. In a 2001 insurance company survey, Roosevelt Boulevard was dubbed the countries 2nd and 3rd most dangerous intersection including 618 crashes in a two year period.
