As if the horrible news of the Asiana crash wasn’t enough for the family of Ye Mengyuan, now they are informed that the death of 16-year-old Ye was caused by rescuers??
Ye Mengyuan did in fact survive the horrible plane crash at the San Francisco International Airport. However, as rescuers moved in on the scene, Ye Mengyuan was struck and killed by a fire truck. Coroners confirmed that she was ran over and killed by a fire truck, and the impact of the plane crash was not the cause of her death.
Fire trucks, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles sped to the runway to put out the fire and save passengers on the plane. San Francisco Fire chief Joanne Hayes-White said “every aspect” of the response is under investigation.
Hayes-White also said, “Obviously, we are heartbroken. We’re in the business of saving lives.”
Clearly, everyone involved is devastated with the tragic death of 16-year-old Ye Mengyuan. The fire department reached out to the family of Ye Mengyuan through Chinese consulate and offered to meet with them.
